​Background

Areas adjacent to the stream show signs of slope movement and erosion.  Stream bank erosion may contribute to sedimentation downstream of East Mercer Way.

Description

Stabilize approximately 475 feet of the watercourse by regrading the channel bed, adding erosion remediation measures such as logs, rootwads, and replanting along the bank.

Status Updates

August 2024

The City has received and is currently reviewing the 30 percent design plans for the watercourse improvements. Preliminary work is also underway to secure the necessary permits for the project.

June 2024

The consultant is working on the preliminary design for the watercourse improvements with their submittal expected in July.  Once the preliminary design is received, the City will submit applications to begin the process of regulatory approval.

May 2024

The City met with the consultant and regulatory agencies in late April to review proposed options.  Regulatory Agency is reviewing the proposed plan to provide feedback on design alternatives.  Once feedback is received, the consultant will begin working on the preliminary design for restoration of the watercourse.

April 2024

Consultant submitted the Preliminary Basis of Design (BOD) report that provided a condition assessment based on the consultant’s field visits and analysis. The report also provided potential design options for the remediation of the watercourse.  The City is meeting with the consultant and regulatory agencies later in April to review proposed options and receive input from regulatory agencies on the project.

March 2024
The consultant has finished their initial review of the watercourse and will be submitting a Basis of Design Report that documents the watercourse condition and remediation options.  The City is scheduling an on-site meeting with Consultant and Regulatory Representatives to review project and begin the permitting process.

December 2023

Staff are completing contracts with the engineering consultant in December and design work is expected to begin in January 2024.

October 2023

Statement of Qualifications for interested consultant were due October 6 and Northwest Hydraulic Consultants was selected as the consultant for this work.  A schedule for design is expected by the end of October.
