Arts Council
About
The Arts Council was established in 1985 with a mission to nurture, promote, and support high quality arts and culture activities for the community. The goals of the Arts Council are to:
- Advocate the arts, artists, and arts organizations of Mercer Island.
- Stimulate and promote community awareness, education, and enjoyment of the fine arts.
- Support performing, visual, and literary arts programs, projects, and events.
Meetings
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month once each Quarter (January, April, July and October) at 5:30 pm. Board and Commission meetings are being held in a hybrid format. The public is welcome to join meetings in person at Mercer Island Community & Event Center, 8236 SE 24th Street, Mercer Island, or remotely using Zoom.

Membership
Seven volunteer residents comprise the Arts Council. Members should possess a broad perspective on arts and culture. A City Councilmember also serves as liaison to the group.
Members are appointed to four-year terms by the City Council running June 1-May 31. Arts Council members should be able to commit an estimated eight hours of time each month to board activities. Click HERE for an application.
