Project Details/Neighborhood
- Basin 32b
Background
Drainage system design standards have evolved over time. Some systems have more/less capacity than others. As drainage systems are replaced or expanded, they need to be sized accurately to convey anticipated flows.
Description
As a pilot project in 2021, assess selected drainage areas called, “basins” by using conventional stormwater hydrologic modeling to estimate runoff quantity from the drainage systems, and take hydrologic and hydraulic factors into account when proposing project solutions. Basin 32b will be the study area for this project since it is one of the largest basins on the island. If successful, the assessment work could reoccur every other year when assessing other basins.
Project Timeline (Target Completion Date)

Status Updates
April 2022 Update
Assessment work for basin 32b along with portions of basins 18C, 25b, and 42 was completed in early March. The result of the modeling effort yielded seven (7) potential future capital improvement projects that aim to replace undersized pipes, alleviate localized ponding, and improve storm drainage in the area where future road paving work occurs.
February 2022 Update
Project design and modeling continue. The consultant is developing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for the drainage basin.
November 2021 Update
Project design is on-going. Consultant is developing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for the drainage basin.
