Emergency & Hazard Plans
The City maintains several plans to help Mercer Island prepare for emergencies and disasters, including the following:
2018 City Emergency Management Plan
This plan provides the City of Mercer Island guidance in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from an incident. It discusses guidelines on how city departments coordinate their actions to continue essential functions.
2020 Hazard Mitigation Plan
Hazard mitigation is sustained action taken to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and their property. The Hazard Mitigation Plan creates a framework for risk-based decision making to reduce damages to lives, property, and the economy from future disasters. In 2020, King County and partner cities collaborated on a joint update to their 2020 Plans.
