The Mercer Island Arts Council is excited to present Art on the Water, a new arts event celebrating sustainability and nature with poetry & spoken word performances, photography, beer tastings, silent auction, and more. This evening event includes:
- Special appearance by actor Tom Skerritt from A River Runs Through It
- Fly fishing-inspired readings by Nathaniel Riverhorse Nakadate, Steve Duda, and Dylan Tomine
- Readings by participants of The Red Badge Project, a literary nonprofit supporting Wounded Warriors
- Nature-themed photography exhibit by David Fishman and Ray Pfortner at the Mercer Island Gallery
- Book signing with Tomine for his book Closer to the Ground: An Outdoor Family's Year on the Water, in the Woods, and at the Table
- Book signing with John Dietsch, co-author of Shadowcasting: An Introduction to the Art of Flyfishing and author of the forthcoming Graced by Waters: Personal Essays on Fly Fishing and the Transformational Power of Nature
- Beer by Snoqualmie Falls Brewery and bites by Caruccio's
- Silent auction featuring signed lithographs by artist Russell Chatham
- Raffle prizes and more!
