Interim Zoning & Official Controls – Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given that the Mercer Island City Council will hold a public hearing at its regular video meeting on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at approximately 5 pm to receive comments on an ordinance providing interim zoning and official controls to comply with the state-mandated code amendments prescribed in HB 1220, SB 5235 and HB 1023. The code amendments would allow transitional housing and permanent supportive housing in all zones where residential dwelling units or hotels are allowed. It will also remove restrictions on the number of unrelated persons who may occupy a dwelling unit and increase the number of people who may reside in an Adult Family Home from six to eight. The meeting will be held virtually using video conferencing technology provided by Zoom, and the public will have the opportunity to comment during the public hearing by either calling in or logging onto the meeting as a Zoom attendee. The City Clerk will also accept written comments until such time that the public hearing is adjourned.
