Introducing Solarize Eastside, the City of Mercer Island’s 2025 Residential Solar Purchasing Program!
Although we’ve been braving the winter chill, it's just a sign that spring sun is right around the corner, and we are thrilled to announce the launch of Solarize Eastside!
The Eastside Climate Partnership Cities are excited to announce the launch of Solarize Eastside, a solar energy campaign available now through July 4th. This program will support Eastside residents to install solar panels on their homes and businesses. Residents of Issaquah, Kirkland, Bellevue, Sammamish, and Mercer Island can sign up for a free solar assessment on the program webpage SolarizeEastside.org.
Solar energy has grown in popularity for its many environmental and economic benefits. However, installing solar on your home can often feel like a daunting process: from perceived costs, to complicated technical details, to selecting an installer. That's why the Eastside Climate Partnership Cities are sponsoring a solar group purchasing program.
Solarize Eastside includes vetted local solar installers Artisan Electric, Sunergy Systems, Puget Sound Solar, Sunpath Electric, and Solterra. The installers were selected through a competitive bidding process based on equipment quality, business practices, and special discounted pricing.
Free public workshops will also be available throughout the 4 month duration of the program and interested residents are encouraged to attend. Workshops will be held at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center on April 5th, during Leap for Green from 11-12:30 and on May 12th from 6pm-8:30.
To be part of the program, sign up for a free home assessment at SolarizeEastside.org before July 4th. A Solarize installer will conduct an assessment of your home or business and provide a detailed proposal at the campaign’s discounted rate. If you choose to contract, the installer will schedule the date of your solar installation. Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union is also providing special solar financing for Solarize participants. The knowledgeable staff at the Eastside Climate Partnership Cities will be available anytime to answer your questions, review proposals, and guide participants through the process every step of the way.
Solarize customers benefit from reduced energy bills thanks to their solar production and net metering. Net metering is an agreement between a customer and their utility that allows them to earn utility bill credits for any extra energy that flows back into the electrical grid. Customers can offset their entire electricity bill with solar, except for their fixed monthly customer charge.
The City of Mercer Island is proud to offer this unique program to accelerate the adoption of solar energy, an essential part of reducing our region's climate pollution. By prioritizing solar education, consumer protection, & locally trusted installers, Solarize Eastside is making the process of going solar simple, secure, and accessible.
Whether you’ve gotten a solar assessment before or not, we encourage you to look into this limited time offering and share this opportunity with your friends, family, and neighbors!
Inquiries may be sent to Solarize@olysol.org or (360) 481-4020.
