Public Assistance

The primary duty of the marine patrol is to promote public safety on the water. In fulfilling this mission, it frequently becomes necessary to rescue persons in varying degrees of distress. It is the policy of the Department to provide emergency assistance to prevent loss of life, injury, or damage to property and to assist the public with situations such as the following:

  • Law Enforcement
  • Fire suppression
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Sinking vessel de-watering.
  • Disabled vessel management.
  • Hazard removal.
  • Installation and maintenance of regulatory and navigational buoys.

Capabilities

From time to time boaters find themselves in some sort of distress. It can be as simple as running out of fuel, not being prepared for the weather, or as complex as a boat accident or some other major catastrophe. With expert training and the right equipment, our marine patrol personnel are able to assist all of the above.

Knowledge and Training

With constant training our personnel are trained to handle every level of distress or emergency response.
