Preventing Vehicle Prowls

Large parking areas are prime targets for prowlers because they can enter several vehicles in a short time. This frequently occurs in parking lots of apartments, parks, schools, pools, shopping centers, restaurants, and parking garages. Although parking lots and garages are prime target areas for prowlers, neighborhood streets and driveways are not immune from such activity.  Here are a few tips to help keep your vehicle and contents safe from prowlers:

• Always lock your vehicle
• Secure windows, doors and tops (sun/moon roofs and convertible tops
• Remove valuables when leaving your vehicle unattended
• Park in well-lit areas if at all possible
• Set the alarm on your vehicle if it is equipped with one
• Call 9-1-1 immediately if you see someone lurking around parked cars or exhibiting other suspicious behavior
