Meds Take Back Day

Saturday, October 24, 2020 - 10:00am to 2:00pm

It is a great time to clean out your medicine cabinet!

Protect our kids, families and environment by properly disposing of your unwanted and expired medicines...

The City of Mercer Island is coordinating with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to once again participate in the nationwide drug "take-back" day. This event will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the loading dock on the west side of the Mercer Island City Hall (9611 SE 36th Street). This one-day event provides residents with a FREE, anonymous collection of unwanted and expired medicines. Both prescription and Over-the-Counter (OTC) medications are accepted. View event flyer.

Please make sure to follow COVID-19 protocols by wearing a mask, using the drive-thru arrangement, and staying inside your vehicle.

Medicines in the home are a leading cause of accidental child poisoning and flushed or trashed medicines can end up polluting our waters. Rates of prescription drug abuse are alarmingly high: over half of teens abusing medicines get them from a family member or friend, including the home medicine cabinet, and often without their knowledge.
