Mercer Island Burglary Suspects Arrested After Multi-Agency Investigation

September 13, 2024 - On August 19, 2024, Mercer Island Police officers responded to a residential burglary report on the 8000 Block of SE 31st Street. Upon investigation, the homeowner’s video surveillance system captured two individuals, one male and one female, entering the homeowner's vehicle in the driveway – the suspects then activated the vehicle’s garage door opener and entered the garage while the family was asleep in the home. The residents discovered the burglary the following morning when they noticed vehicle doors ajar and items missing from both the vehicle and from inside the garage, and they called the police. Through diligent detective work and interagency cooperation, both suspects were identified and subsequently arrested.

The male suspect was linked to three recent burglaries in King County, while the female suspect – identified as the male suspect’s girlfriend – was wanted on a felony warrant. On September 5, 2024, the female suspect was arrested in Federal Way, and on September 9, 2024, the male suspect was arrested in Kent by Bellevue Police detectives. Mercer Island detectives have filed charges for both individuals with the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

The Mercer Island Police Department thanks our officers, detectives, and partner agencies for their diligent work on this case.
