Police Investigating Occupied Burglary

May 24, 2022 - At approximately 2:00am this morning, Mercer Island Police responded to an occupied burglary in the 4000 block of 85th Ave SE. The homeowners stated that they awoke to the sound of their front door being kicked in. Three adult males entered the house, impersonating police officers - the homeowner confronted the suspects and determined they were not the police. The suspects remained in the house for approximately 15-30 seconds before leaving; nothing was taken, and no one was hurt. Further investigation found that the suspects were armed with a possible rifle and two handguns - the suspects discharged the handgun as they fled.

Mercer Island Police responded immediately and are actively investigating this crime. The Police Department will provide updates to the community as additional information is confirmed.
