King County Repair Event
At this King County free community repair event at the Mercer Island Community Center, King County skilled volunteer "fixers" will try to repair and mend household items and clothing!
First-come, first-served. If people bring second items, fixers will try to get to those after we have worked on everyone's first items.
If you're not sure if your item is a good choice for these events, or if you have any other questions, contact event coordinator Tom at tom.watson@kingcounty.gov or at 206-477-4481. First, read the info below, and visit www.KCecoconsumer.org (which also lists King County businesses offering paid repair).
Fixers may decline to work on any item – in advance or at the event – depending on the item, the type of repair needed, the fixers available, or for other reasons.
Fixers work on many types of small household and personal items, including electronics; toys; tools; small furniture, such as chairs or drawers; clothing; and textiles.
No cell phones, tablet computers or microwaves. Nothing that uses gasoline. No knife or tool sharpening. No lengthy reconstructive repairs. No major clothing alterations. Items brought in for repair, including clothing, must be reasonably clean.
