What to do During a Water Shortage

To view the latest information on the City's current SPU Water Shortage Emergency, visit the Let's Talk page.

In the event of a water shortage emergency, the City will declare a Water Shortage Emergency activate the Water Shortage Contingency Plan (WSCP). The City will share guidance for any voluntary or mandatory water use restrictions. To learn more about the City's WSCP, please review AB6492.

The WSCP consists of 4 stages: Advisory, Voluntary, Mandatory, and Emergency. To review the water consumption reduction actions associated with the different stages, see the table attached below. The actions shared in the Advisory Stage are year-round water conservation tips, while the actions shared in the Voluntary, Mandatory, and Emergency Stages are ways to short-term reduce water use.
