METHOD OF BID SOLICITATION: MRSC Small Works “Concrete and Masonry”, “Earthwork”, “Roadway Construction, Repair, and Maintenance”, and “Site Improvement, Repair, and Maintenance” and with the matching sub-categories “Curbs, Gutters, Sidewalk, and Driveways”, “Grading”, “Excavation and Trucking”, “ADA Detectable Warnings”, “Asphalt Pavement Roadways”, “Manhole and Valve Adjustments”, and “Signs”, Roster in accordance with RCW 39.04.155.

The primary scope of work includes but is not limited to, mobilization, temporary traffic control, pavement and sidewalk removal, utility lid adjustments, and installation of ADA ramps, concrete curb and gutter, and concrete sidewalk in Mercer Island’s Town Center. The engineer’s estimate is $230,000 to $260,000.

The Awarded Contractor shall be available to start physical work as early as July 22, 2024. All work shall be completed within SIXTY (60) working days from the date of the Notice to Proceed (NTP).

The selected contractor will be required to meet and agree to all the conditions in the Invitation to Bid (ITB) and Plans, as well as the Required Bid Forms, EXHIBIT “A”, the SAMPLE Contract Documents, EXHIBIT “B”, the City’s General Terms and Conditions, EXHIBIT “C”, and Contract Technical Specifications, EXHIBIT “D”.

The purpose is to establish, through a competitive bidding process utilizing the MRSC Small Works Roster, a contract to perform the work described. In addition to the requirements of the ITB and attached exhibits, contractors must be registered on the MRSC Roster to be eligible to bid. To sign up or learn more, visit https://mrscrosters.org/.

The Plans show the location of the work as well as existing conditions. Bidders in their own interest are advised to inspect and examine the site of proposed work and obtain, at their own responsibility, all information that may be necessary for preparing the Bid and entering into a Contract.

Contractors not on the prospective bidders list, but wanting to submit a bid, are urged to check the project web page regularly for important project updates.

All interested bidders shall submit the required bid forms electronically to bids@mercerisland.gov no later than 2:00 PM, June 12, 2024, to be eligible. All submittals shall be clearly titled: “BID PROPOSAL – ADA TRANSITION PLAN IMPLEMENTATION”.
