Side Sewer Repair Permit Conditions

The following conditions will appear on the face of a self issued Single Family "Side Sewer Repair" Only Permit:

 

The Owner and their Contractor hereby agree to accept full responsibility, and to hold the City of Mercer Island harmless for any liability, damage and/or costs which may accrue from prosecution of the side sewer construction and any work accomplished under this permit. The owner and contractor shall ensure that:  1. A right of way use permit is obtained if work extends into the right of way. 2. The work complies with City Code MICC15.06.  3. Side sewers are connected to the sanitary sewer system. 4. Stormwater drainage and prohibited discharges will never connect to the City Sanitary Sewer System (see MICC15.06.140, including but not limited to: Roof Drains, Footing Drains, Springs, French Drains, Any Ground or Surface Water Drains). 5. Street cleanup and road restoration shall be made to the satisfaction of the City. 6. An as-built drawing is provided on the City form prior to backfilling the trench. 7. All required permits are obtained at no cost or liability to the City.

Note:  If the side sewer line crosses over a neighboring property, the Owner and their Contractor must ensure that there is an easement for the sewer line to be able to be working on the neighboring property.
