The Community Planning & Development (CPD) Department reviews all permits for land use and private development. CPD is dedicated to helping the community achieve the vision of their future, their values, and lifestyles.

CPD is committed to preserving the unique island environment while encouraging sensitive and quality development. Work in the department is conducted by teams of employees organized by the product and service priorities of the City. These include Land Use/Planning, Building/Inspection, Utilities/Right of Way, Compliance with Code, and Permit Coordination.
